India is much more than just the home to one of the seven wonders of the world – the Taj Mahal. It is a land of amalgamation of culture and history with the modern and astounding infrastructures. Not only that, India has many gems which are stunning and ooze with historical and structural marvel- which is why they are in dire need to be explored and the world to know about the grandeur of these places.

Here is a list of such places, which you can include in your bucket list. So, the next time you plan on traveling to India, (or within India), make sure that you cross these places off your lists! You can thank you later 🙂

Kanyakumari is the southernmost part of the country. The sunset and sunrise from this point is surreal. One of the most thrilling experience here is that you can see the three seas – Arabian Sea, Indian Ocean and the Bay of Bengal merging into one.

It’s also a noted pilgrimage site, because of ‘Bhagavathi Amman Temple’, dedicated to a consort of Shiva, and the ‘Our Lady of Ransom Church’, a center of Indian Catholicism. While you are there, don’t forget to visit the Vivekananda rock memorial which offers alluring picturesque views.

* Dal Lake, Srinagar

The Dal Lake is one of the most famous lakes of the country. It is famous for its Shikaras, or the house boats which have become a major tourist attraction. Apart from this, the boating experience here is another major attraction as you do not need to stop at a particular place to purchase anything while boating. There are shopkeepers on boat, who come to you for anything that you wish to purchase. Apart from that the whole picturesque surroundings of mighty mountains and greenery, mirroring upon the vast lake- makes it an unforgettable experience.

What Howrah Bridge is to Kolkata what Taj Mahal is to Agra. It was built in the times of British rule and the structure still remains one of oldest landmarks in Kolkata. It is one of the largest cantilever bridges in the world, and the largest (and perhaps the only) one in the country which spans across the Hooghly river. It provides one-of-a-kind experience to drive through this bridge. Known as the symbol of Kolkata and West Bengal, this bridge is also termed as a “Photographer’s Delight” by the top travel photographers of the country.

* Chandni Chowk, New Delhi

Chandni Chowk is one of those few places in the country that needs no introduction. The beautiful lanes of the area are famous for the spice souks, silver jewelry, dry fruits, clothes, etc. and is decorated with rich history. The people who own the shops have inherited these properties for more 50 years. Every different lane will open a whole new and different world infront of you. The world-famous ‘paranthe wali gali’ is popular for its parathas, lassi and rabri (Indian food). It is said that you can purchase almost anything here, but the trick is that you must know your way around and have a good rapport with the shopkeepers.
