The World's Tallest Motorcycle Ride

Day 01: Arrival Delhi, Sightseeing in Delhi
The first day in India, we take the time to look us in the metropolis of Delhi. It is a vibrant city of both old and new, pretty well-organized sites and databases where the areas teeming with people, rickshaws and cows.

Day 02: Delhi - Shimla (2205m)
We experience rail travel in India. The railway station in Delhi is an experience in itself with Indians of all kinds. Some sleep and wash up on the platform .... We travel by train north to Lime in the foothills of the Himalayas, where we set ourselves on a narrow gauge train that takes us up to the old, cozy mountain town of Shimla. The trip by train you will find in the Guinness Book of Records as the world's steepest togstrekning and it is considered a real classic. It's nice to leave the landscape of Indian and slowly crawling up the slopes of the Himalayas. Shimla was the summer capital of British empire in the time they ruled India. Here we get acquainted with our Royal Enfield that will transport us around the next few days on the "world's tallest motorcycle ride.

Day 03: Shimla - Shoja (2683m) via Jalori pass (3223m) / 160km / 6hrs (MC-trip start)
We drive through an undiscovered and beautiful part of Himachal Pradesh. The road winds its way through the apple orchards and wooded mountains. Over Jalori sure we get our first encounter with a steep, narrow and winding engine cycle. This is a quiet little road with great views!

Day 04: Shoja - Solang (2600 m) / 133km/5hrs
Today we drive through the Kullu valley. We follow a small mountain road through small villages with a particular building before we reach Manali. We overnight in Solang which is higher than Manali. Solang is known as the skiing and paragliding resort and is located at the foot of the Rohtang pass.

Day 05: Solange (Manali) - Chandra Tal (4270m) / Camp before Batala via Rohtang pass (3980m) / 153km./6hrs. Overnight in camp.
In the distance we see the snowy mountains above Solange. The road up the pass Rothang La is often shrouded in mist that cracks and reveals the blue sky and deep valleys in the background where the rivers and rapids have washed their runs in the mountains. Cows, horses and donkeys graze among the wildflowers in red, blue and pink. A kilometers before the pass, we stop and relax in a small tent gathering where it is possible to get something to bite into and chai (tea). The road to the top is bad. The pass is desolate and often covered by fog mist that operates over the top. In clear weather the views are spectacular from here. We drive into the Spiti valley and up to Moon Lake (4270moh) where we enjoy the sight of this remote ocean before we run lower down and spend the night in camp at Bathal.

Day 06: Chandra Tal / Camp at Batala - Jispa (3349m) / 110km./4hrs.
Today we drive through beautiful valleys and over small rivers. Some with and some without a bridge. The trip from Chandra Tal / camp at Batala offers challenging skiing in the form of "lack of road standards" where we get tested our driving skills. We stop in Tandi where we refuel gas when this gas station is the last of 400km before we cross the Tibetan plateau. After a demanding kjøredag ​​it is nice to get a shower and a good dinner at the hotel in Jispa Located on the banks of the kindergarten.

Day 07:  Jispa - Sarchu (4253m) via Baralacha La (4918m)
After Jispa is mainly dirt road as they work with paved. We stop for police checks in Darcha, located on the banks of the River kindergarten. Darcha is the last house which only consists of a parachute tent. We cross the river and start climbing upwards. We pass Zing Zing Bar (4067) and Baralacha La (4918) and is now 110 meters higher than Mount Blanc. There is no vegetation and the landscape consists of variations of brown that changes color in sunlight. It is a wild nature! We arrive at the tent camp where the cook serves up good food in the afternoon.

Day 08: Sarchu - Tsokar (4420m) via Nukeela (4800m) and Lachulung La (4900m)
The road is like something out of a magical scene of marble mountains that rise up from Yamu River surrounded by small ponds and lakes. Furthermore, we drive to Whisky Nalah (4802) and Pang (4522) and over Lachulung La (5077 m). When we have come up hairpin bends and stands on top, we can congratulate each other with the first pass over 5000 meters! From here go way down.

We take off from the main road and stay overnight at Tso-Kar Lake. Home of nomads with livestock during the short summer months. A beautiful lake on the Tibetan plateau.

Day 09: Tsokar - Tsomoriri (4400m) via Polokongka Namshang & La La (4800m)
This is a new stage for us this year and go on gravel roads into the mountains. Tso Kar and Tso Moriri to go over the Chang Thang plateau in eastern Ladakh, the western edge of the Tibetan  plateau on the border with Tibet. In this area it is possible to watch nomads with their herds of yaks, goats and sheep. Tso Moriri Lake is located in a nomadic area called Korzok. Tso Kar area called Samad Rokchen and has a rich bird life, including how rare Brahmin ducks and the occasional pair of Black-necked cranes. In these areas there are also wolves and snow leopards. Both turquoise lakes surrounded by white mountains reflected in lakes that change color during the day and is a beautiful sight.

Day 10: Tsomoriri - Leh (3505m)
From Tsomoriri we run the first part of the day on gravel roads until we have crossed the Indus River. We follow the Indus River through a beautiful valley until we reach civilization in Leh, which is the regional capital of Ladakh.Leh is high, namely approx. 3500 meters above sea level. The city is surrounded by white Himalayan peaks. Here we take in at a good hotel and enjoy a hot shower and good food. In the evening we go for a ride and experience the city.

Day 11: Day off in Leh with a visit to the monasteries
The people of Leh are friendly, and face the dragons are more Chinese, or Tibetan, than the typical Indian. The many restaurants are small and cozy, and serves for the most beautiful Tibetan dishes.We use the day in Leh to visit the monastery and see us in this exciting city. There are good opportunities to buy locally produced products such as carpets, leather clothing and jewelry at the Tibetan market.

Day 12: Leh - Khardung La (5606moh.) - Nubra Valley
 After an hour we arrive at a checkpoint where we must have a permit to move on. After this stop, we begin and mark the height. The narrow gravel road takes us higher and higher, and sometimes we meet a truck coming down slowly, many of them from the Chinese side. Eventually, the glaciers also extends right down to the road, and we must run through several småbekker before we reach the top. At the top, 5606 meters, we have a magnificent view in all directions. Looking north we see in China. The mountain peaks around is between 7000-8000 m. Some soldiers are stationed here and guard the pass, all well acclimatized to the height. For us, coming from Leh on the MC, we here feel a little skjelvne in the knees. But the view, the sharp light and the feeling of standing on the roof of the world literally takes my breath away!

We drive over the pass and down to the Nubra Valley where we stay overnight.

Day 13: Nubra Valley - Leh
The morning we use to ride on the rare Bactrian camels in the dunes and enjoy the beauty of the valley before we drive back over Khardung La to Leh.

Day 14: Leh - Delhi (flight)
We fly from Leh to Delhi and in good weather, we can see C2 to the right. The tour ends with sightseeing, shopping and dinner in Delhi before flying home with a mountain of adventure!
